Highlights include tomorrow’s Uphill Bike Race, an 11-mile race to the summit of Whiteface Mountain and the 3rd Annual Wilmington Whiteface 100k, a qualifier for the prestigious Leadville 100. Cortland, NY. (December 21, 2011) - In their continuing effort to benefit the local food bank and community, Greek Peak has dedicated December 24th as Ski Free Day from 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. Any individual who brings one non-perishable food item on December 24th will receive a lift ticket good for that day (Rentals, Lessons, Programs, Tubing not included).
Each ticket will entitle the bearer one complimentary ride on the new Nor' Easter Mountain Coaster at the Adventure Center. "The event is an opportunity for individuals to come out and have fun at Greek Peak while benefiting the Local Food Banks and the local community", states Kevin Morrin , VP of Sales & Marketing. "I couldn't think of a better scenario". Greek Peak Mountain Resort will also be open on Christmas Day from 8:30 am - 5:00 pm.

Read more...After an unseasonably warm and limited snow-filled December so far, Mother Nature has cooperated enough to allow Plattekill Mountain in Roxbury, NY to lay down a sufficient amount of man-made snow and officially open for the 2011/2012 season this past weekend.
Where do all things start? At the beginning, and so Plattekill Mountain opened its slopes this past weekend with beginner terrain and took advantage of its limited trails, by offering free beginner lessons for all skiers and riders alike to learn to ski or board. There were many eager takers excited to take advantage of the free lessons and for the more seasoned skiers who came, to enjoy the first turns of the season. All in all, it was fun for all who ventured up to the mountain for the season kickoff.
